Columbine Tragedy - Why?

In the wake of the recent Columbine, Colorado tragedy, most of our country has been asking and even debating WHY such tragedies occur and what can be done to prevent them in the future.

There was a time in this country when few doors needed to be locked, no one was afraid to walk the streets after dark, and crime was extremely low. Obviously, times have changed. All too often, the blame for our country's moral decay is placed on the schools, the government, gun stores, or society in general.

A few years ago President George Bush made the statement, "We all know that putting America's families back on track is essential to putting our country back on track."

God said it like this in Prov.22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it." In Prov.19:18, "Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; And set not thy heart on his destruction." In Prov.22:15, "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; But the rod of correction shall drive it far from him." In Eph.6:4, "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord."

How could JUVENILE CRIME be ENDED immediately? In Renton, Washington, a number of years ago, they decided to end juvenile crime. When a juvenile committed a crime, they put his father in jail for 30 days. Juvenile crime dropped 90% the first year. Why do you think this program was successful? Do you think it had anything to do with motivating parents to put in more time in TRAINING VALUES to their children? Values training must begin with parents. We cannot put values in children which we do not have ourselves.

When people believe in God, that He is the Creator of the universe and all things therein (Genesis 1), they realize the Bible is THE ANSWER to all problems in this life and provides the plan of salvation to prepare us for an eternity to come. We invite you to be our guests in a study of the Word of God.
