Introduction:
            It helps us to know what Christ went to do in Heaven. We can easily perceive that the glorious condition of the resurrected Jesus was more fitting for Heaven than for Earth.

Jesus, full of glory, went to Heaven
            Since the King had entered into the world through a virginal birth, Matt. 1:18-25, because it was fitting of his divinity, so He left this earth by ascending with power and glory. He ascended in the presence of his apostles, Acts 1:9-11. We are told that in the same visible way in which He went, He will return. His ascension was a proper way of ending His visit to this earth.

Jesus went to send the Holy Spirit 
            What reasons might  God have had for not sending the Holy Spirit on the apostles without Him being sent by Christ? We do not know. But Christ said that if He did not go to Heaven, the Holy Spirit would not come on the apostles, John 16:7. After His departure Jesus, would send Him. This is why Jesus said that it was profitable for us that he went away.

Jesus went to advocate for us
            It gives us confidence to have a lawyer, because he defends us, and he represents us better than we do ourselves. “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us,” Rom. 8:34. What a relief for the fallen Christian to be able to obtain reconciliation by means of that advocate, 1 John 2:1.

Jesus went to make us mature
            Today we do not have the tangible presence of Jesus. The Lord is with us until the end of the world, Matt. 28:20, but we do not see him yet. This benefits us because it makes us mature. Workers who work only at the boss' presence, are not responsible. We must work also when the Boss is far away, not getting drunk, nor beating the servants, as the evil servant did, Luke 12:45-46.

Jesus went to give us to hope
            Hope that is seen is not hope, said the apostle Paul, Rom 8:24. One of the purposes of the Christian life is to wait for Christ, 1 Thes. 1:10. One day we will see Him as He is, and that hope purifies to us, 1 John 3:2,3.

Jesus went in order to return with glory
          It corresponds to the glory and authority of Christ to return from Heaven in a majestic manner. Christ will return accompanied by mighty angels, 2 Thes. 1:7-8. Every eye will see Him, Rev. 1:7. He will come to carry out the Universal Judgment, Matt. 25:31-46.

Conclusion:
          The Lord was right when He said that it is for our advantage that He went to Heaven, John 16:7. Let us agree with Him regarding His absence. At the same time, let us gladly hope (“love”) His return, 2 Tim. 4:8. Let us be prepared, because he comes to rise the dead, John 5:28,29, He comes to perform the Final Judgment, Matt. 25:31-41, and He comes to give us rest, 1 Thes. 1:7.

Obras de Jesús en el Cielo

Introducción:
          Nos beneficia saber a qué se fue Cristo al Cielo. Fácilmente podemos percibir que la gloriosa condición de Jesús ya resucitado lo hacía más a la medida para el Cielo que para la Tierra.

Jesús se fue glorioso a los Cielos
        Ya que el Rey había entrado al mundo por medio de un nacimiento virginal, Mateo 1:18-25, como correspondía a su divinidad, él partió de esta tierra con una salida adecuada a Su poder y gloria. Él  ascendió a los cielos frente a sus apóstoles, Hechos 1:9-11. Allí quedó afirmada e ilustrada la manera visible en que volverá. Su ascensión fue una manera muy pertinente de terminar Su visita a esta tierra.

Jesús se fue para enviar al Espíritu Santo
        ¿Qué razones habrá tenido Dios para que el Espíritu Santo no pudiera venir sobre los apóstoles si Cristo no lo enviaba? No sabemos. Pero Cristo dijo que si él no se iba, el Espíritu Santo no vendría sobre los apóstoles, Juan 16:7. Yendo Jesús, lo enviaría. Por eso Jesús dijo que nos convenía que Él se fuera.

Jesús se fue para interceder por nosotros
        Siempre nos da confianza tener un abogado, porque que él nos defiende, porque él nos representa mejor que nosotros a nosotros mismos. “¿Quién es el que condenará? Cristo es el que murió, más aún, el que también resucitó, el que además está a la diestra de Dios, el que también intercede por nosotros”, Rom. 8:34. Qué alivio para el cristiano caído poder obtener la reconciliación por medio de ese abogado, 1 Juan 2:1.

Jesús se fue para hacernos madurar
       Hoy no tenemos la  presencia tangible de Jesús. El Señor está con nosotros hasta el fin del mundo, Mateo 28:20, pero no lo vemos todavía. Esto nos beneficia porque nos hacer madurar. Los obreros que sólo hacen trabajo mientras el patrón está presente, no son responsables. Debemos trabajar también cuando el Jefe está lejano, sin embriagarnos ni herir a los criados, como hizo el siervo malo, Luc. 12:45-46.

Jesús se fue para darnos esperanza
        La esperanza que se ve no es esperanza, dijo el apóstol Pablo, Rom. 8:24. Uno de los propósitos de la vida cristiana es esperar a Jesucristo, 1 Tes. 1:10. Un día le veremos tal como él es, y esa esperanza nos purifica, 1 Juan 3:2,3.  

Jesús se fue para volver con gloria
        Corresponde a la gloria y autoridad de Cristo volver de manera majestuosa. Cristo volverá acompañado por los ángeles de su poder, 2 Tes. 1:7-8. Todo ojo le verá, Apoc. 1:7. Vendrá para hacer el Juicio Universal, Mat. 25:31-46.

Conclusión:
          Bien dijo el Señor Jesús que nos convenía que él se fuera al Cielo, Juan 16:7. Estemos conformes con Su ausencia. A la vez, esperemos con gusto (“amemos”) su regreso, 2 Tim. 4:8. Estemos preparados, porque él viene para resucitar a los muertos, Juan 5:28,29, para hacer el Juicio Final, Mat. 25:31-46, y para darnos reposo con los fieles, 1 Tes. 1:7.
